    Ritchie Bros. opens its first yard in Scotland

    On the M8 between Glasgow and Edinburgh, the 24-hour site cuts the travel and downtime that used to come with buying and selling equipment in the region

    [Maltby, The United Kingdom – 22 June 2026] — Ritchie Bros., the global asset management and disposition company, opens its first yard in Scotland. The move extends its UK and Ireland network into a new region and gives customers across the country a local site for buying, selling and moving used machinery.
    The new yard sits on the M8 at junction 5 in Harthill, midway between Glasgow and Edinburgh, placing it within easy reach of Scotland's central belt and the main routes north and south. The site is open 24 hours a day for deliveries, allowing hauliers and customers to drop off and collect equipment around their own schedules rather than within fixed yard hours.
    The opening builds on Ritchie Bros.' established UK base at Maltby, Rotherham, its primary operational hub, and the yard at Mullingar, Ireland, which opened in May 2025. Together, the three sites strengthen the company's coverage across England, Scotland and Ireland, and reinforce its ability to support seamless trading on both sides of the Irish Sea.

    For buyers and sellers in Scotland, the new location shortens transport distances, simplifies logistics and adds capacity at a time of rising demand for used equipment. It also brings Ritchie Bros.' inspection, marketing and sales support closer to a customer base that has historically had to travel further to access it.
