EWP hire fleet to be sold through Ritchie Bros. as the business puts its people and capital into complex access solutions

Sydney, Australia, 6 November 2026 — Instant Access, which has been solving complex access challenges for Australian builders and asset owners since 1968, will sell its 327-unit elevating work platform (EWP) hire fleet through Ritchie Bros. as it shifts its focus to specialised access solutions.

“Most of the calls we get start with ‘we’ve got a bit of a tricky one’,” said Matt Longbottom, CEO, Instant Access. “It might be an unusual structure, a high-risk site or a heavy-duty project where standard scaffolding won’t do the job. Those are the complex access challenges we enjoy solving, using custom temporary works and engineering solutions to suit the project. Stepping away from EWP hire gives us more time to focus on that work and find the right solution for every customer. Ritchie Bros. gives our EWP fleet the best chance of finding new owners quickly, here and overseas.”

Instant Access continues to operate from its head office in Sydney and its Newcastle operation, working on projects nationally.

Ritchie Bros. will offer the fleet through several sales channels. The first 109 machines will sell unreserved in the Ritchie Bros. Australia Unreserved End of Year Auction on 25 and 26 November 2026. All 109 auction machines will be located at the Ritchie Bros. Geelong yard. More equipment will be offered through Ritchie Bros. Marketplace-E, where buyers can Buy Now or Make an Offer.

The November offering includes 87 scissor lifts, 11 vertical mast lifts, eight articulating boom lifts and three telescopic boom lifts from JLG, Genie and Haulotte, manufactured between 2004 and 2019.

Equipment highlights:

Genie GS1932 scissor lifts (29 units)
JLG 1932R scissor lifts (21 units)
JLG 1930ES scissor lifts (15 units)
Genie GRC-12 and JLG 1230ES vertical mast lifts (11 units)
Genie Z-34/22, Genie Z-51/30 and JLG 450AJ articulating boom lifts (eight units)
Genie GS4390 rough-terrain scissor lifts (five units)
JLG 460SJ and 660SJ telescopic boom lifts (three units)

Machines are sold as is, and the offering includes both operable and inoperable units. The range may suit hire companies, contractors, refurbishers and exporters.

“We’re proud Instant Access has trusted us with the sale of their fleet,” said Simon Ward, Key Accounts Manager, Ritchie Bros. “A fleet of more than 300 access machines from one owner doesn’t come to market often. Through our End of Year Auction and beyond, we can reach buyers across Australia and internationally, including strong demand for this type of equipment across Southeast Asia. Every auction item sells unreserved to the highest bidder on the day.”

The auction is online and unreserved. Buyers can inspect equipment at the Geelong yard before sale day and bid at rbauction.com.au.
